What Panderm + + Cream is used for

• Psoriasis
• Severe or thickened eczema
• Lichen planus and discoid lupus
• Alopecia areata
• Ringworm and athlete's foot
• Vaginal thrush
• Oral thrush (gel)
• Fungal nappy rash

How it works

Clobetasol

Clobetasol is one of the strongest topical steroids. It suppresses stubborn skin inflammation that milder preparations cannot control.

Miconazole

Miconazole disrupts the fungal cell membrane and also has some action against Gram-positive bacteria, which helps in mixed skin infections.

Common side effects

• Skin thinning and stretch marks
• Burning and stinging
• Visible blood vessels
• Acne or increased hair growth
• Rebound flare on stopping
• Local burning or irritation
• Itching
• Redness

Most side effects are mild and settle as your body adjusts. Tell your doctor if any of them persist or trouble you.

Safety advice

Quick tips

• Use it for short defined courses, usually no more than 2 weeks at a time
• Never apply it to the face, groin or armpits unless a dermatologist has told you to
• Do not use steroid creams for ringworm — they make it much worse
• Apply twice daily and continue after clearing
• Tell your doctor if you are on warfarin and using the oral gel
• Keep the affected area dry
