What PAN 40 Tablet is used for

• Acidity, heartburn and acid reflux
• Stomach and duodenal ulcers
• Protection against ulcers caused by painkillers
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
• Part of H. pylori treatment

How it works

Pantoprazole blocks the enzyme pump that secretes acid into the stomach, so the stomach contents become far less acidic and inflamed tissue can heal.

Common side effects

• Headache
• Diarrhoea
• Nausea
• Gas
• Dizziness

Most side effects are mild and settle as your body adjusts. Tell your doctor if any of them persist or trouble you.

Quick tips

• Take on an empty stomach, half an hour before breakfast
• Do not crush or chew the enteric-coated tablet
• Raising the head of the bed and avoiding late heavy meals helps as much as the tablet
