What Clopilet A 75 Capsule is used for

• Prevention of heart attack and stroke in people at risk
• After a heart attack, stent or bypass
• Pain and fever (higher doses)
• Kawasaki disease in children (specialist use)

How it works

Aspirin

At the low doses used for the heart, aspirin permanently blocks an enzyme in platelets so they cannot clump together, which keeps clots from forming in narrowed arteries. At higher doses it also relieves pain and fever.

Clopidogrel

Clopidogrel blocks the P2Y12 receptor on platelets so they cannot stick together, which prevents clots forming in narrowed or stented arteries.

• Stomach irritation and acidity
• Easy bruising
• Nosebleeds
• Indigestion
• Bleeding gums
• Stomach upset
• Rash

Most side effects are mild and settle as your body adjusts. Tell your doctor if any of them persist or trouble you.

• Take it after food, at the same time each day
• Never stop low-dose aspirin on your own after a stent or heart attack — always ask your doctor
• Tell your dentist or surgeon that you are on aspirin before any procedure
• Never stop it before dental work or surgery without asking the cardiologist who prescribed it
• Tell any doctor or dentist that you are taking it
• Report black stools, blood in the urine, or a persistent headache after a fall
