What Betadine 10% Ointment is used for

How it works

Povidone iodine slowly releases free iodine, which kills bacteria, viruses and fungi on contact by oxidising their proteins.

Common side effects

• Local stinging
• Skin staining (washes off)
• Irritation with prolonged use
• Rarely, allergic reaction

Most side effects are mild and settle as your body adjusts. Tell your doctor if any of them persist or trouble you.
