What Benadryl Syrup is used for

How it works

Diphenhydramine

Diphenhydramine blocks histamine receptors, dries secretions and suppresses the cough reflex. It readily enters the brain, producing marked drowsiness.

Ammonium chloride

Ammonium chloride irritates the stomach lining slightly, which reflexly increases the watery secretions in the airway and makes phlegm easier to bring up.

• Vomiting at high doses
